see original issue in OpenCPN OpenCPN/OpenCPN#4477
Watchdog generates incorrect course alarms.
Reproduction steps
Go to the WD alarm screen
New Alarm
Course
Set course to the current course and off course > 10 degrees.
Port or Starboard.
Use GPS, though Heading sensor has the same behaviour.
Condition triggered for 10 seconds
Enable the alarm
WD will then easily generate alarms saying e.g. 355 or 360 degrees, whereas no alarm should be generated, since the actual of course is just 5 degrees.
Expected behavior
Trivial, no alarm when condition is not met. Off course is always between -180 and 180.

Additional context
With this not being in place, the complete course alarm is useless. :-(
I tried changing the COMM Priorities for the COG, but that made no difference.
