I will definitely look into this. When I initially wrote support the only one I could find at the time was the DYMO LabelWriter 450 Twin Turbo, and while it's nice and fast it has some limitations with margin sizes. The QL-820NWB is certainly a pricey printer, but I bet I could add support for it without having one on me - if you are volunteering for testing. Mostly, it's all about the label size, resolution and layout as long as it supports CUPS (unix). It's totally possible to encode the DigiKey information, or even just the manufacturer part number. I'd really like to see support on Binner's end for printing QR and 2D Barcodes which shouldn't be difficult to do. |

I am fully committed to any testing of anything you wish, not just the printer but that would be excellent. The printer is not cheap but it does a whole lot and does it well.

FYI - My Brother QL-820NWB will print text on labels from Binner but barcodes don't work and the label size I have is not one of the two label choices in the dropdown. I have barcode fonts installed on my PC but they are not selectable in the font drop down. |

thanks for reporting this. I've been doing a rethink on how labels are done, and would like to redesign the part printing stuff but that will be a fairly large feature so will take a bit of time. The barcodes currently aren't done using fonts, but rather drawn custom by a barcoding package that I wrote to be cross-platform. The font dropdown shows fonts that are stored in Binner.Web/Fonts and they must be ttf format, the ones I distribute are open source licensable fonts so I only include a handful. |

I found "free3of9" truetype font and copied it into the Binner.Web/Fonts directory but it doesn't show in the font selection dropdowns. I actually didn't think it would be that simple but I had to try... |

The way the label printing would be most useful for me is if instead of typing text, I could select the fields from a database search, print the label then have it stored and searchable back in the parts database.
My envisioned usage model goes like this: I have a part without a barcode from an unknown supplier that I then found on Digi-Key by entering the part number in Binner and selecting the part that best matches. I then store that part in the database and switch to label printing. Either the last part I saved is preloaded onto the print screen or I search for it. I then select a stored template or I select the fields and format the label. I print the label and put it on my part bag then save the label format as a template for later reuse.

I didn't have any issues getting the font to show up - I copied it to I did however, fail to use it in a part label. There was an error calculating the width of the label using that font, which is something I'll see if I can fix right now and include as part of v2.4.0 |

also interesting, no errors in the Print Label page but the font selection doesn't seem to change any styles on the label. I have a funny feeling SixLabors has been making some breaking changes with their Imaging/Fonts api. That or I've broken something horribly at some point and didn't notice. I'm going to play around for this for a while until I figure out why it's not working as intended. |

ok good news, the issue I saw was in my 2.4.0 branch only and was able to fix (great catch, because i'm releasing it tomorrow). Bad news is, the SixLabors font manager (not my library) blows up internally when trying to measure the width of the font so I'll see if I can find an alternate barcode font for you to use and include. I'll also take a peek at why my barcode library is generating barcodes seemingly too large - ideally you shouldn't need a barcode font as it's better to generate them but that's besides the point atm. |

I've added the free IDAutomation barcode font and had some minor success with it. I found for those to scan properly the value must be surrounded by 12345 or (12345) to work, just setting the value to 12345 won't scan at all as per their docs. I've also fixed up some font scaling issues, and 128-barcode generation (the IsBarcode toggle) in the labels so they mostly print correctly. This is a temporary stop gap until I build the new part label designer, coming in v2.4.1. |

@TWM617 the new font and a few label fixes are now available as part of the v2.4.0 pre-release. This is a big update, and there are some special upgrade notes related to backing up your Binner database file if using the built-in Binner file storage format. Let me know if you run into any issues. I'm going to get working on the new part label designer for the next release, which should make printing good labels a lot easier. |

What are the prospects of supporting printers that are attached to the network? I have my Binner installed on a server using Docker, and I incidentally have a Dymo 450 that I have hooked up to the network using a Raspberry Pi-based print server and CUPS. (I think there is a network print server appliance that Dymo makes but it's expensive and has a hard-coded password). My personal needs are homelab based but I could totally see commercial utility for queuing label print jobs over the network. A lot more convenient not to have to lug a laptop and a printer around when you're mucking around the stockroom or warehouse. |

I tried to set Web Browser Print Mode and when I click save, I get the error “Failed to save print settings”. Actually, I when changed any one of the settings and try to save and I get the same error. Also there is something weird about your web page. When I scroll down to select the account type, the screen goes to blue, showing only the Binner banner.

I believe I saw somewhere that you were soliciting suggestions for additional label printers to support. I would like the Brother QL-820NWB (related permutations) to be supported. It is a very nice printer fully capable of 1D and QR printing.
Since my printer is not yet supported I don't have any clue of the current usage model but something useful to me would be able to effectively recreate the information encoded in Digikey barcodes so I could use locally inventories parts out of the static bags and reprint the labels with updated quantities. This would also solve the problem of having old products with invalid Digikey barcodes but which are still valid parts in the Digikey inventory.
