Goals

  • First class support for sharing API definitions across projects, platforms, and uses.
    • React Native, React Web, NextJS, Anansi, NodeJS, Bun, Vue (secondary)
    • One definition, many uses
    • Wide version ranges (React, TypeScript, Node, browsers); minimal runtime dependencies
  • Understandable at scale
    • Rely on a minimal number of heavy lifting core concepts
    • Absolute minimum complexity as things scale
    • Intuitive to agents and humans; skills and codemods for onboarding, debugging, migrations
    • Data binding directly in the component that renders the data
  • Strong data integrity guarantees
    • Referential stability: unchanged data keeps the same object identity everywhere
    • Atomic mutations; every view consistent without refetching
    • Types and runtime never silently diverge
  • Best performance in class
    • Networking overhead is the most expensive - minimize this first
    • 60 FPS continuous experience even on mid-range hardware. No blocking stutters.
    • Minimize bundle size when it doesn't significantly impact other goals
    • We assume best practices production bundling: brotli, minification, react compiler, etc
    • Claims backed by fair, reproducible benchmarks of real DOM updates; stated neutrally
