Hi Professor Irizarry,

I hope you're well. I'm currently using the excessmort package for a quasi-Poisson regression analysis and was wondering how to extract the model coefficients, goodness-of-fit metrics, and the dispersion parameter with it. Could you provide some guidance or point me to relevant resources?

Hi can you provide more details on what you mean by quasi-Poisson regression analysis?

The current package's excess_model function returns the fitted excess death estimate in fit and point-wise standard error estimates in se. It also provides the option to compute excess total deaths for intervals if you provide contagious dates through the interval argument. This is based on the model described in Acosta and Irizarry (2021) "A Flexible Statistical Framework for Estimating Excess Mortality".

If you want to fit a model different from this, with covariates, you will need to write your own. I can help you understand the steps followed excess_model to fit the model without covariates. Adding covariates is possible but will require some work.
