I love your lightgun projects.
Having a Saturn Stunner and looking at your project, I thought:
Would it be possible to get a replacement receiver for the stunner. It’s easy to open and should be easy to replace. That would allow people to enjoy the original hardware on new TVs!

Just another question:
The camera seems to be used inside your gun, detect the 4 IR lights positioned at the 4 tv screen corners, process the XY hit position and send them back to the Saturn with the proper timing. Isn’t it?
if that’s the case, if the tv has too much display lag. It means it won’t work isn’t it? What would be the max lag allowed in ms?
I’m asking because I use a frameister and this adds a bit of lag.

There's actually a number of sources of delay that I haven't really addressed yet. Display lag won't make the gun not work, but you'll see the changes a bit delayed. The best I can suggest for that is game mode and a fast converter. There are other sources of lag like image acquisition, image processing, and sending XY coordinates from the Pi to the controller. I'm going to try to address some of these when I get back to the project later this year.
