I have connected an external monitor and am using both the built-in screen and the external display simultaneously. I would like to use StatusPerch to shorten the menu bar on the built-in screen while keeping it full-width on the external monitor; how can I achieve this?

Thank you for the suggestion. We carefully evaluated the possibility of keeping the menu bar organized on the built-in display while leaving all items visible on an external display.

At present, the public macOS APIs do not allow a menu bar utility to maintain fully independent collection states for different displays. Implementing this reliably would generally require a custom floating menu bar together with Screen Recording or Accessibility permissions, or reliance on private system APIs.

Those permissions provide relatively broad access. Even if StatusPerch never collects or uploads any data, users could still reasonably be concerned about whether screen content, interactions, or other private information might be accessed. Private APIs may also stop working after a macOS update, creating long-term stability and compatibility risks.

This would conflict with StatusPerch's current principles: no sensitive permissions, fully local operation, and minimal intrusion into the system. For now, we do not plan to implement this feature at the expense of those privacy boundaries and reliability guarantees.

We will continue to watch for relevant public APIs from Apple. If this becomes possible in the future without requesting sensitive permissions, we will reevaluate it. Thank you again for helping us understand a real multi-display use case.
