Is it possible to fail only the current suite?

In a situation where I have two independent suites, is it possible to skip a suite on the first failure instead of skipping all the test suites?

Not currently, but it should be fairly easy to implement. Something like:

• Allow the init function to take an options object with a specs option. This option perhaps takes a value like "all" (to disable all specs, current behavior and default) and "current" (only skip current suite).
• Update logic in disableSpecs to use the specs option.

ironically, in 3.0 fail-fast was implemented in the way @yeikel wants and only skips out of the current suite, but that's not what everyone expects ... see jasmine/jasmine#1563
