Template for getting Album Year

Hi, my current template for albums looks like this.
album = "{album.artist}/{album.title} ({album.date})/{item.number}. {item.title}"

However i don't want the full release date but only the release year. Also now with the {album.date} it adds "000000" after the date to all the albums? If its not possible to get just the year, i would at least like to get rid of the 0's
