Right now K4M2A inherits Bluesky's default behaviour; every post on the timeline shows when it was posted. I want to make the case for why this is the wrong design for a spiritual platform, and propose a simple change.
The timestamp is a freshness signal and that signal does not belong on this timeline
The timestamp tells the reader: this is new, this is now, this is relevant today. That logic makes complete sense for Twitter. If someone is reporting a flood, an election result, or a breaking story, recency equals relevance. You need to know if something happened 2 minutes ago or 2 days ago because it changes everything about how you receive the information.
But in a spiritual context, recency means almost nothing.
If someone shares a reflection on the nature of suffering, it does not matter if they wrote it this morning or three years ago. What matters is whether it is true. What matters is whether it lands for you in this moment. The Bhagavad Gita was not written this morning. The Tao Te Ching has no timestamp. Nobody reads Rumi and thinks wait, when did he post this?
The timestamp on a spiritual platform is not just irrelevant. It is actively misleading. It tells the reader to evaluate the post by when rather than what.
I propose we remove the timestamp from the timeline view entirely. Do not show it on the postcard as it appears in the feed.
Keep it in the post detail view when someone taps into a specific post to read it fully, the timestamp can live there, below the post, quietly available for those who want it. It is not hidden; it is just not the first thing that greets you when you are reading through the feed.
