[Idea]: Search by Name + Tag

What problem does this solve?

Right now the search is scoped to just tags only, I'd like to be able to search by the snippet name too

Your proposed solution

We could either update the TAGS search box to be more expansive and allow you to search by snippet name, or add a whole different type of search box specifically for snippet name. I think the former is cleaner where instead of saying TAGS it just says SEARCH

Alternatives considered

• include tags for all my snippets (which I probably should be doing anyway)
• Command+F in the browser to find the snippet (what I have been doing)

How important is this to you?

Would significantly improve my workflow

I've also found myself Command+Fing. I think a search would be nice if the lift isn't too heavy.

@zachspar @anthr76 the more I use codecaddy myself the more I find myself command+F looking for specific snippets.

There are a couple of things on my mind with how interacting with snippets can be improved.

• Favorited/Pinned: I can have a dedicated section of the page to show your pinned or favorite snippets so those are readily available
• Filtering: Right now I am thinking last updated, date created, might also be useful to most frequently used or least accessed
• Pagination: This would help with the infinite scroll for users who have alot of snippets
• Search: This is the big one that would be useful. I would like @zachspar you mention search by snippet name but wondering if you would want it to be more expansive and allow search by anything even for keywords within snippets?

Open to feedback on these items as an overall UX improvement

Apologies for the late reply on this, but I happen to love how you implemented it where it's more expansive. And has an icon when it's the query is found within the snippet itself. 👏 great work

@zachspar @anthr76 we released a some of these features to codecaddy over the last few weeks.

These include

• Pinned: Keep your favorite snippets front and center

• Filtering: via Tags, Languages

• Search: This searches for what you typed in against the title and snippet body. If it matches something in the snippet we include a "matched in code" blurb (see screenshot)

• Sorting: We offer sorting for recently updated, newest created, oldest created, a->z. This always keeps pinned snippets 1st

• Pagination is one we started to work on but decided to hold off as a lot of the features listed above didn't work well with our pagination approach so we want to revisit paging so we have a good UX flow like we do today
