Temporary exchange of connection details #2

Description

@jeroenvanmaanen

A peer-to-peer local-first app that provides and accepts temporary connection details.

Use case: you bring an item for repairs to a shop.

Instead of giving then your phone number and/or email-address both you and the shopkeeper open this app it shows buttons for how long the connection details should be valid.
You drag the desired button to the bottom of the screen, this causes the phone to show a QR-code near the top of the screen and refresh it every few seconds.
Hold the phone such that they can take a picture of each others screen with the front camera.
When a QR-code is taken, the flashlight of the phone flashes.
When both phones have flashed, you release the button and pocket the phone again.

The QR-code contains an peer-to-peer endpoint a one-time-password (OTP) and optional metadata.
The shopkeeper could choose to include the name of the shop.
On a trade show I could choose to include the model of the product I am interested in.

The endpoint can be used by other apps to connect:

  • Send pictures of the damaged product
  • Place an order
  • Report that the item has been fixed an can be picked up
  • Place an audio or video call (without exchanging phone-numbers)
  • Propose an appointment
  • Request payment
  • Provide tracking information about a package

Ideally it should be possible to invalidate the temporary connection details if you feel the other end misused them.
It should be possible to share the temporary connection details (for example, with your family or with colleagues).
