I'd like to be able to easily see the resource timeline for all the calendars that a user has view permission for, to make it easier to select a room for a meeting.

Current solution is to have a PHP iCalendar presenting view of all the resources with davical calendars.

Thanks for the clear write-up — this is a reasonable gap, and most of the groundwork is already there.

Two relevant pieces already exist:

• The bookings endpoint already accepts scope=view, which resolves to all rooms the user can view, and that is in fact its default. What is missing is a UI that uses it: the personal Bookings tab passes scope=manage and only appears for users who manage at least one room.
• The overview it renders already has the resource-timeline view you are describing (day/week/month, one row per room), plus room and status filters.

So the feature is largely a matter of surfacing the existing view-scoped data to non-managers, rather than building a new timeline. I want to be careful about one thing before doing that: the timeline currently shows event titles and organizers, which is more than a viewer should necessarily see. A view-only variant likely needs to show occupancy without exposing who booked it — that is the part that needs a decision, not the plumbing.

Related, on the Nextcloud Calendar side: nextcloud/calendar#8264 adds a browsable room finder to the Calendar room picker — rooms grouped per building, with filters for building, floor, capacity and features, and an availability indicator for the event’s time range. That addresses the "easier to select a room for a meeting" half of your request directly inside the booking flow, which may be closer to what you need day to day than a separate overview. It is open for review now.

Also relevant: RoomVox 1.3.0 fixes the room metadata that such a browser depends on — rooms now publish their building name and floor under the keys CalDAV clients actually request, so grouping and filtering work on real data instead of values guessed from the address string.

Leaving this open. If the Calendar room finder covers your use case once it lands, that is useful to know — and if you specifically need the read-only overview of all viewable rooms, say so and I will scope that separately.
