It would help if you provide the log and the full environment you are building on.
I ran a built right now on a Ubuntu 26.04 LTS without any extra parameters:

./build.sh

The operation not permitted sounds like an issue. But I don't know where this could come from.
The modules are built in the build container.

Maybe you can share the complete log and the command you used.
What would be also helpful is your build environment.

I have double checked the build on a CentOS Stream 9 machine.
And I have also checked it on another Ubuntu ARM machine.

All three compiles worked without any issue.

This might give us some clue. The issue does not look like being part of the container build.
It could be an older Docker version which might not work well in this context.

I have added diagnostic when starting the build. Now it dumps details about your build environment.
Please pull the project and try again to get the details of the version you are running.

Then update Docker to the latest version and try again.
I would be interested in the logs on the top of the build.

Here is my output from a ARM based machine. I have not tested with my Raspberry Pi.
But this might not have given a clue because I use Ubuntu on Raspberry Pi, too.
You might be on the original OS?
