Setup Snapcast

Setup Snapcast synchronous audio player has server-client architecture.

To complete this ticket:

• Setup #2 instance of raspotify with separate config. Refer to librespot options - there you will find backend and device options for redirecting audio to the server.
• Setup snapcast-server
• Setup snapcast-client with output to default alsa device

Raspotify limits the number of it's instances per machine, due to discovery mode implementation. The available solutions are:

• Run server stuff on external machine:
  • Snapcast server + Raspotify device
• Run server stuff on the same machine:
  • Snapcast server + Librespot instance
  • All configuration provided in the librespot command args

• Cloned snapcast repo
• cd snapcast; mkdir build; cd build
• Downloaded boost from source from https://www.boost.org/users/history/version_1_81_0.html
  • wget https://boostorg.jfrog.io/artifactory/main/release/1.81.0/source/boost_1_81_0.tar.bz2
  • tar --bzip2 -xf ./boost_1_81_0.tar.bz2
  • sudo mv ./boost_1_81_0 /usr/local/lib/
• cmake .. -DBUILD_CLIENT=ON -DBUILD_SERVER=ON -DBUILD_WITH_PULS E=OFF -DBOOST_ROOT=/usr/local/lib/boost_1_81_0
• cmake --build .

Binaries will be created in /bin:

<snapcast dir>/bin/snapclient
<snapcast dir>/bin/snapserver
