Function "otsu_intraclass_variance" throws a warning in Jupyter, but not in Python

I am unclear why the first run of the function "otsu_intraclass_variance" throws a warning in Jupyter, but not in Python and why subsequent executions of this cell don't throw a warning. Comments welcome.
