Assignments and Grades not working in new teams

When creating class teams from Moodle integration, users are unable to access Assignments and Grades apps, manually created teams have no issue.

Version Moodle : 4.5.5

Please provide more details like what do students see when trying to access assignments and grades in teams? Are there any error messages?

Please note we, as maintainer of the plugins, are Microsoft partners but not employees, therefore we don't have access to Microsoft case numbers.

Hello Lai, Both students and teachers see a message saying that the setup isn't ready yet and that they should come back later for Assignments and Grades. Everything else works fine. If we create the team manually, Assignments works. There's a problem with provisioning Assignments. Yesterday we updated the plugin to version 4.5.7 2024100735, but the problem persists. After some test, I can confirm a class team is not fully provisioned at team creation; rather, the provisioning of a few features such as "class notebook", "classwork", "assignments" and "grades" are only triggered when the class team is activated. In my tests, all these features are available within 30 seconds of class team activation. Please test it yourself.

As for the activation itself - we have evaluated previously the possibility to automatically activate class teams created by the integration, but the results are not reliable. The only way to reliably do it is to use individual user's token (delegated permission) to call Graph API, but this is against the current design of using application token / permission, therefore it's infeasible. We will need to live with this I'm afraid.
