upon making another pass at the paper I noticed this line on page 3 under figure 1:
Above the imaginary axis, the scale factor is positive, and above it, it is positive.
at first I thought it might be a typo and meant to say ...and under it, it is (positive | negative) but I'm unsure. Any clarification would be helpful, thanks!

Sorry, just saw this! You are right it's a typo, thank you! Above the imaginary axis the scale factor is positive and below it is negative. I'll fix this and push the changes tonight.

I assumed that above was positive and below was negative but wanted to be sure so I'm glad I asked. You're welcome, happy to help.
