Home Assistant Addon for the stiga-api

Hello to all users of Home Assistant!
If you want to integrate this great work of the stiga-api into your Home Assistant instance you could use the HA addon provided at https://github.com/H2CK/ha-addons.

Just add the addon repository and you will find the addon in the Home Assistant addon store.

The addon requires the MQTT broker addon and integration to be installed. All information provided by the stiga-api is provided to Home Assistant via MQTT. Via MQTT discovery of HA the a lawn_mower device with multiple entities is created. A lot of further attributes can be found in the lawn_mower entity.

Once installed you have to enter your STIGA credentials in the configuration section of the addon and just start it. The addon is build on the Home Assistant instance using the latest version of the stiga-api. In case you want to update the used code of the stage-api you should rebuild the addon.

I used the original API description from STIGA and a bit of this great code (thanks for your awesome work!!) to create a new Home Assistant native plugin. It's still heavily under development, but works basically.

Does this works with new models Stiga Vista A 6/8v?

I can't speak for this project, but my other parallel project which bases a lot on Matthew's great work (https://github.com/mvdberge/stiga_lawn_mower_hacs) was developed with a Stiga Vista A 15v, so a 6v or 8v should be more or less identical.
To be honest, I never tested it with a non-Vista model (from 2024/2025). If there is any person that could check and give some feedback, that would be highly appreciated.

Good to know. There are two dimensions here:

(1) does the API/tools/etc work with mower X: I can only confirm for my mower (A1500) which is in active use/testing; for any other mowers, it depends on individuals who have installed/tested and it's appreciated if anyone gives a heads up when they do confirm that it works on a different model;

(2) does the HA addon/integration work with mower X: I don't use HA, so I can't even confirm that A1500 or any version of mower works, but it seems like it does thanks to the people on this issues list who have integrated it; note there is a risk of unexpected breaking changes, as I can't verify that any change that works and adjusts for case (1) will still continue to work/adjust for this (2).

I had Claude create an integration kit. Firstly, to run the standalone monitor (which provides a webserver and an API, and maintains a persistent connection to the Stiga servers) as a Docker container, whether using HA or not. Secondly, a HA integration YAML, which interacts through the API endpoints. This should be faster and richer than direct API or tools, which would cause multiple connections and the setup/teardown delays associated, plus the webserver functionality has a number of features. Since I don't use HA myself, it's flagged as EXPERIMENTAL until someone can run, adjust, confirm. If someone can, please do.
