Themis Core Module - Future Enhancements

Scope

  • hardening and refinement of themis core runtime behavior
  • deterministic reliability improvements for gating/load/verify/wire paths
  • stronger benchmark-backed guardrails for core hot paths

Design Constraints

  • core contracts remain backward compatible within major release line.
  • license and edition decisions remain explicit and deterministic.
  • loader and verifier outcomes remain observable and non-silent.
  • wire runtime behavior remains bounded and diagnosable.

Required Interfaces

Interface Requirement
identity interfaces deterministic build/runtime metadata behavior
gating interfaces stable license and edition decision semantics
lifecycle interfaces explicit secure load/verify/dependency contracts
wire interfaces bounded session and error behavior

Implementation Notes

  • tighten parity between trust verification and module loader diagnostics.
  • standardize incident taxonomy for license/verify/wire classes.
  • expand resilience tests for sustained loader and wire runtime pressure.
  • broaden benchmark depth for module lifecycle and core session workloads.

Test Strategy

  • unit and integration suites for identity, gating, and lifecycle behavior.
  • regressions for signature/hash/dependency and wire edge scenarios.
  • deterministic stress runs for concurrent wire-session and loader workloads.
  • release-profile benchmark runs for mapped themis targets.

Performance Targets

  • themis core hot paths remain inside regression budgets.
  • loader/wire-sensitive operations remain stable at p95/p99 envelopes.
  • mapped benchmark manifests reach no-missing-case status for release gating.

Security / Reliability

  • maintain strict bounded behavior for license and trust transitions.
  • preserve explicit failure signaling for verify and wire faults.
  • enforce predictable degradation under runtime pressure.
  • keep diagnostics actionable for production core incidents.
