No. mmd files are loaded/displayed after opening the folder

Open .mmd files folder-> nothing dispay

Expected behavior
Display all mmd files.

When you click the "Open Folder" button, it's expected that only folders would be displayed in the Windows File Explorer; this is not an issue. Furthermore, VSCode behaves in exactly the same way when opening a folder.

Thanks for your reply.When opening a folder in VSCode, it indeed only displays folders rather than files. This is typically for project-related purposes (.vs project). However, you may have overlooked that VSCode also has an "Open File" button, which displays all files. I believe your use case is more similar to the latter. A more closer design is also present in IDEA. Based on my personal usage experience, I may only remember the main path where mmd files are saved, not the specific details of the path. In that case, I will repeatedly search through various folders. If the mmd files under a folder can be displayed, I believe I can find the folder I want to open much faster. I’ve noticed that the app lists all MMD files in folders and subfolders, which is probably why you thought it only displays folders. However, this approach doesn’t really suit scenarios that require categorized management, as having all MMD files crammed under a single parent folder feels rather disorganized. @Cynician The "Open File" button you mentioned is already in the menu bar (File → Open File). I left it out of the sidebar since it's rarely used. You can also drag & drop to open .mmd file(s) or a folder directly.

I agree it would be nicer to see .mmd files while selecting a folder, but unfortunately this is a limitation of the native OS dialog. On macOS the folder picker still lists files (grayed out), whereas the Windows folder-select dialog hides files entirely and offers no way to show them.

However, this approach doesn’t really suit scenarios that require categorized management, as having all MMD files crammed under a single parent folder feels rather disorganized.

That's a real issue — the flat thumbnail grid is hard to manage when you organize diagrams into subfolders. I'm still looking for a better solution here (e.g. grouping diagrams by folder), but until then I'd rather keep it simple. For now, if you're doing heavy work across many diagrams, I recommend switching to the tree view for better management. :)
