What would you like to see added?
I want another symbol for disconnected drives. The problem is that I have backup disks at work and at home, and since TimeMachine cannot perform a backup for home disks when at work, it looks like an error.

I am not sure how this is best handled -- since you both want to know if disks don't connect, but also not be disturbed that it looks as an error if being in the wrong location (home vs work). Is it possible to learn where the disks are geographically located, so it will know? Probably too complicated

More info:

I have two disks at home "Time machine home 1" and "Time machine home 2". Neither has been backed up for 3 days.

In System Settings/General/Time Machine both are shown as :

"Next backup : after disk is connected."
Last backup a date three days ago.

In the TimeMachineStatus software,
"Time machine home 1" has a red triangle
"Time machine home 2" has no warning

So I think I am saying that the info i System Settings is more helpful in that I don't expect backups to run if the disk has not been mounted. And that to me System Settings gives a cleaner message without distracting warning icons.

I like the rest of TimeMachineStatus, so my hope is that this gives some info on how you may be able to catch if there has been an attempt to backup to a mounted disk (in contrast to not having seen the disk at all)

Agreed. I found it strange that a warning icon was present in TMS but not the System Preferences pane. I'd say that a missing disk isn't an error condition.

One additional thought!

I think that a missing disk could become an error after X days. Maybe X configurable?

It is nice to become aware, but not while inside your normal backup schedule.
