Be good to each other. That's really it.
We want anyone to feel comfortable contributing to Vole, regardless of who they are or how much experience they have. A few ground rules make that possible.
Do:
- Welcome people who are new. Ask them what they're working on. Point them to the right file.
- Disagree with ideas, not people. "I think there's a simpler way to do this" beats "this is wrong" every time.
- Give feedback you'd want to receive. Be direct, but be kind.
- Assume the person you're talking to is acting in good faith. Text is terrible at conveying tone.
Don't:
- Insult people, harass them, or make them feel unwelcome.
- Use discriminatory language. Period.
- Share someone's personal information without asking.
- Do anything you wouldn't do in a room full of colleagues.
Maintainers will step in. Depending on what happened, that might mean a private conversation, an edited comment, a warning, or a ban. We'll use our judgment.
Reach out to the maintainers directly. We'll keep it between us.
Everywhere the project lives -- issues, PRs, discussions, chat. If you're representing Vole, this applies.
