Black screen after following non-root user setup tutorial

Hi,
I had this problem now 2 consecutive times, it seems as if your tutorial page for creating a non-root user is either incomplete or I am just too dumb to follow correctly. After creating my local desktop.toml localdesktop seems to refuse to start up. All I get is a black screen. And the addition "if something goes wrong, you can always delete this file" is honestly also not very helpful, since I cannot even get a terminal input. The only way to "fix" this had been to wipe all storage the app uses and start again from scratch without creating a non-root user, which makes me unable to use make e.g. ...

okay, so after some digging in the source files, i think i found the cause for this: in main/src/core/config.rs it states that, in order to function correctly a [command] section is also needed, not having one may cause the file to not be parsed correctly. Will try appending one from the custom desktop guide and come back with results

I'm facing the same issue, but even after adding a [command] secion, it's still starting to a black screen.
Here is what I'm using:

check = "pacman -Q xfce4-session && pacman -Q xfce4-panel && pacman -Q labwc"

What am I doing wrong?

i just copied the command section from the begin of the custom desktop wiki page, and set try_username="testuser" and username="root" in the [users] section. This "works" in that, i don't get a blackscreen anymore, but logging in as "testuser" seems to still fail, i still get logged in as root, even though, "try_username" should be the preferred option according, to the documentation found in the aforementioned file. Seems to me usermanagement is just bugged atm, su testuser also results in "i have no name@localhost" being shown by the command prompt, no matter how i created the testuser account, (tried both by ID and just by name, the console seems to not find it reliably). So i guess that config is "safe" until the underlying problem will be fixed in a future update?

i mean the "i have no name" user, still seems to somewhat work, in that i can use sudo, as expected, and i can now compile stuff, but compilation of AUR packages seems really really weird, as i keep running into proot based errors, like access restrictions, to folders pacman normaly uses, but can't in this setup. So i don't know if this is the way to go right now...
