Building from git source still gives me version 1.1.1

Trying to reinstall firmware on m1 Mac Pro, I keep having an issue where it can’t put the device into recovery mode. The package I originally had installed was from the Fedora Rawhide Repo and it appears other users have had issues from that version as well. So I tried building a new version from source but the version command still says 1.1.1.

seems like it's taken from .tarball-version or from NEWS first line unless you set env var $RELEASE_VERSION yourself
