1995 ZJ 5.2 – used SBEC PCM 56026974 from VTA vehicle in non-VTA vehicle: EEPROM read / VTA byte? #27
|
Hi, I'm restoring a 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee ZJ 5.2L (46RH, non-VTSS, Italy). The original PCM 56041878 died (CPU failed). I installed a used 56026974 from eBay: engine cranks, reaches ~1000 rpm and dies immediately. Spark, injector pulse, fuel pressure, CMP/CKP all verified OK; only DTC 12 and 55 stored. The 1995 FSM (group 8Q-2) states: "A PCM from a vehicle equipped with VTSS cannot be used in a vehicle that is not equipped with VTSS." So I suspect the donor car had VTA. Questions:
My old 56041878 (non-VTSS car) is dead but its EEPROM might still be readable off-board, if that helps as a reference. Thanks! |
