Hey! So currently it hasn't been fully tackled since the GPU stack is quite complex for this, but for now we have a "Merge Down as Mask" feature which you can access by right clicking a layer, this uses the layer as a mask and applies the alpha values to the layer below. If this doesnt suite the needs though please list out how you think it should work/what you would want so I can look at implementing it even if a simpler version :) |

In version 1.2.6 I've added Layer Masking, at least a basic implementation of it, might still be issues let me know if you find any and I can improve it, also if you want to see it extended/refined further. Supports making layer masks, editing them, disabling them, applying them, inverting them. |

Hello! I tried using a layer mask in v1.2.8 but couldn’t figure out how it works in this editor. I see the option in the menu, I choose “add mask,” but nothing changes and there’s no indication of it anywhere. Usually, I enable a mask on a layer to conveniently erase parts of an image when layering elements over each other. When working with a mask, all that’s left is switching between black and white colors. |
Uh oh!

Is there any plan to implement the "Layer Mask" feature? The only thing stopping me from switching to lightweight editors like PaintFE, Paint.NET, and similar apps is that — for some reason — this particular functionality is only available in heavy, full-featured editors like Photoshop, Krita, and GIMP, whose capabilities are simply overkill for my needs.
