Does this adapter still works with PS5 games (e.g. Gran Turismo 7)?

Hi! I'm looking into ways to use the Logitech G25 on PS5 with Gran Turismo 7 and I've find out about this.
Since on January 2024 there was a PS5 firmware that messed up with third party adapters, I wanted to know if this adapter still works right now on PS5 with PS5 games.

As far as I know nothing changed with regard to licensed PS4 "specialty peripherals" like racing wheels, arcade sticks and flight sticks. The banned adapters emulated something else, not sure about the specifics.

By the way, back on PS4 I've used an Arduino and a separate USB to use it for a GIMX, can they be used in this case as well or it's only for the Pico?

Code in this repository is only for the Pico (and other RP2040-based boards).

If you got the old gimx adapter still you could test the gimx flashed as driving force gt and plug into the pico and hopefully the ps5 would see it. This potentially could be a drivehub alternative

I'm sorry but why would I need to do that?
I've looked at the GIMX method for PS5 back then and they required:

• Arduino with GIMX
• Officially licensed controller
• Drive Hub
• A PC

I've avoided that since it the Drive Hub was too costly and would have rather bought another wheel, this Pico solution in theory only need the Pico and the officially licensed controller.
Why searching for a Drive Hub alternative? I'm confused :'D

You shouldn't need any of that, I have an incompatible diy wheelbase and was wondering if I could use this plus a gimx for the ps5 because the gimx stops working after 8 minutes

Hi! Sorry for bothering again but I'm looking for a solder-less solution like you shown and while I've find a Pico with pin headers already soldered and the breadboard, I had no luck at all for the USB Type A breakout board with soldered pin headers.
Best case scenario is an USB type A breakout board with separate pin headers, which mean I have to solder them.
I've searched on various stores and all of AliExpress and nothing, maybe you can point me to a specific site/product or maybe a specific description/alternative?

Hi. I tried to introduce this adapter with G920 but I did not succeed. G920 does not have Playstation button and also start, select buttons. G920 is physically working but it is not recognized on PS5 and the buttons on it do not work. Is it possible to complete this on G920? In addition, I do not have a PS4 controller that I can connect to the USB hub. Would it be useful to have this in my current situation?

G920 starts in Xbox mode so that's probably the issue. There's probably something we can send to it to switch it to PC mode, but I never got it to work right on other Logitech wheels so who knows.

Thanks. When I connect G920 to PC via PICO, it detects it as G29. However, it does not work as it did when I connected it to PS5. Could it be useful to use PICO with a GIMX adapter for the situation you mentioned?

Thank you very much for the USB suggestion, as soon as I've read that I've ordered all the necessary.
All the components has arrived few days ago so I've "built" the Pico and put the "adapter.uf2" file in it.

I'm using the Hori Fighting Stick Mini as authentication (it's compatible with PS5 fighting games) and I'm testing it a LOT with the G25 on a PS5 and sadly it's hit and miss.

Specifically the Gran Turismo games have a very low chance to actually works.
I've tested Gran Turismo Sport (PS4), My First Gran Turismo (PS5) and Gran Turismo 7 (PS5).
Basically with Gran Turismo games, most of the times the wheel gets incredibly stiff as soon as you launch them and it won't work properly.

When it decides to actually works tho the wheel isn't stiff anymore and works properly, force feedback, full 900° rotation and all.
I've tried to find a "way" to make it working properly by starting the game with the DualSense first, putting the Pico in the PS5 after the game started, not using the DualSense at all and only the Pico, unplug the Pico and plug it in again after the game is started, doing that while in a race and every other possible combination you can think of, it's completely random.

It depends on games as well tho, for example Assetto Corsa Evoluzione (both PS4 and PS5 versions) works 100% of times, as soon as the game start the wheel gets "loose" and when you go in-game it works as it should.

There are other games that have the same Gran Turismo issues, like Nascar Heat (PS4) and F1 23 for (PS5), and others that works fine like Grid Legends (PS5) and Dirt 5 (PS5).

I haven't tested those other games a lot like I did with Gran Turismo and Assetto Corsa tho, maybe even the one with stiff wheel like Nascar and F1 23, if you unplug and plug the Pico all the time you can get it working at some point, I don't know.

I'm focusing on Gran Turismo 7 especially since is the one I'm interest the most but yeah, there is a moment when the game start where if the wheel gets stiff then it won't work, if it is more loose then it will be fine.

Even after the wheel got stiff with GT7, if I exit the game and start Assetto Corsa Competizione, the wheel will get instantly loose and will work fine, so the game communicate something at the Pico/wheel in the moment it starts that will decide if it will work or not.
I'll add that on all the games I've tested the wheel is read as a G29.

Does the Pico leave some log that I can give you to help better understanding the issue maybe?

So it seems like my PICO is somehow in a permanent USB MASS STORAGE mode and not executing the 'adapter.uf2' file that I copied over? Any tips to at least get my PICO being presented as G29?

Honestly this is weird indeed.
I can tell you that after I've put the 'adapter.uf2' file in the "RPI-RP2" drive, the Pico drive got automatically unplugged and the drive wasn't shown on Windows anymore.

After psychically removing it, once I plug only the "flashed" Pico in the PC again it gets read as G29 in the Device Manager:

Maybe you can try to flash it again, be sure to hold the BOOTSEL button on the Pico while you plug it in the PC and look if the drive is called "RPI-RP2".
This is the Pico I've bought if it can be of any help, it looked the most "genuine" compared to other stuff sold on AliExpress, this one had already the headers as well (I've selected the "Raspberry Pi Pico H" model as "Color"):

Even after flashing it by dragging .uf2 files to it, it would show back up as a USB storage device again (ie. BOOTSEL mode) instead of as a G29 device as you demonstrated. Likely defective, damaged from shipping or perhaps not "genuine" as you suggested. So I ordered another from Amazon from a different seller which will arrive later today and decided I should delete my post afterwards as I think my issue is h/w related and not relevant to this adapter s/w.

Appreciate your followup and all the testing you did, though disappointed to hear it didn't work well with GT...by then I had already ordered all the required parts so I'll keep trying and maybe use it with some of the other games you suggested. Maybe a V2 will eventually arrive @jfedor2 that will be compatible with GT? 😁

Hi again! I've did a LOT of testing and by using the Hori Fighting Stick Mini (PS3-PS4 black model) as authenticator I managed to get the G25 work on GT7 with this method at the first try most of the times:

• Plug the Pico with the hub, the Hori FGM and the wheel in the PS5 (while is powered off)
• Power on the PS5 with the physical button on the chassis
• Press the equivalent of "Share" + "Options" button on your device to act as PlayStation button and take control of the console
• Now you can start Gran Turismo 7

In my case (G25), if the wheel is really stiff it means that it's not going to properly work so I do this:
I start a race and, when I'm in control of the car, I pause the game, remove the Pico and I plug it in again after few seconds.
I press the "PS" button combination and I resume the game. If everything is fine I keep playing, if it's still stiff then I'll rather turn off the console and repeat the initial procedure since, in terms of probability, the plug out and plug in consecutively doesn't have a good working ratio.

Maybe jfedor will be able to understand the issue.
Let me know if it works or you need any other help on this.

p.s. if you manage to find a more reliable method for GT don't forget to share it :'D
