Not sure how to understand some basic instructions

Sorry, but I am not sure how to understand this: "From a checkout of this repo...". Does it mean I have to download the folder to my computer and set my command line (cd) to the local copy?

@nesdnuma yes, that or a git checkout is what was intended by those instructions. FYI -- this repo is no longer active. We arrived at a functional prototype but it was too limited. It might be revived in the future but I have no plans at the moment to do that. In general I do not recommend you use this unless you are looking for something to learn from. Consider this repo as unsupported early alpha code.

All right. What would you recommend to use instead? There are so many tools to use build123d but none seems easy to install...

@nesdnuma my current recommendation is build123d-portable here https://github.com/jdegenstein/build123d-portable

The idea is you download, unzip, and run from the releases page of that repo. It includes python, VSCode, build123d, and the viewer.
