I originally created this -unofficial- library to help facilitate easy access to LANDFIRE data as part of a project for a previous client. Since the original release, LANDFIRE and I have both undergone significant changes. LANDFIRE has released a new major version and I have as well in the form of a daughter (21 months old now!). I also took on a leadership role at a startup which occupies much of my non-baby time. I suppose I'm in a phase of life where it's difficult for me to make open-source contributions.
I believe there is a solid foundation here using modern (hypermodern?) Python best practices, testing, and rigorous docs. The lib is in need of someone to come in and update things to use the new LANDFIRE API and extend functionality to allow edit rules/masking. If anyone so volunteers (looking at you, students of fire...), feel free to let me know and I'll provide admin access to the repo. I will also add working on this lib to my perpetual to-do list as making the data more accessible is a great interest of mine. No promises I can get to it in 2025, however.
Thanks for using this lib (back when it worked). Also please don't yell at the LANDFIRE team about this as this is not their doing.
