Rubric Score

Criteria 1: Report: Are conclusions clear and supported by evidence in all eight answers?

  • Score Level: 4 (Exceeds Expectations)
  • Comment(s): Every answer includes text, query results and the related queries on the slide. Although the query results were not displayed in a table, they were still included in the slide. This inclusion allows the reader to comprehend the data that the query is gathering. Further, by including the query on the slide, it allows for any individual to replicate the results, which gives the slides both credibility and support by evidence. Not to mention that the presentation was beautifully formatted and each conclusions at the bottom of the presentation was well supported by the gathered data. Really great job!

Criteria 2: Query Accuracy: Do queries do what they were supposed to do?

  • Score Level: 4 (Exceeds Expectations)
  • Comment(s): All queries accurately retrieve the data intended as implied by comments/titles in the presentation.

Criteria 3: Query Formatting

  • Score Level: 4 (Exceeds Expectations)
  • Comment(s): These queries were excellently formatted and followed each of the rules laid out in our SQL Style Guide. Most notably, I love the use of white space and indentation, especially in each of the sub-queries. Great job!

Criteria 4: Understanding underlying concepts and terminology

  • Score Level: 4 (Exceeds Expectations)
  • Comment(s): The report demonstrates clear understanding of connections between UTM Parameters marketing touchpoints and touch attribution. Also, the queries demonstrate an understanding of these concepts by marking which part of the query was the UTM and which was the touchpoint.

Overall Score: 16/16

Overall, this was a really great project! The presentation was clear and concise, the optimization of the budget made sense, and the SQL queries were accurate and cleanly formatted.

One thing to note is to be careful about how we are optimizing the campaign budget -- we need to make sure we are balancing new user attraction with more purchases. Both are important, but we can't overly focus on one or the other, especially in the case of CoolTShirts which doesn't have many (or any) repeat customers. If you want to read a whole blurb about it, I left a more in-depth discussion here. But, this is really just a side-note -- I ultimately think that the campaigns chosen do a good job at providing balance; it just focuses more on purchases rather than first touches.

Nevertheless, great job with this project!
