More importantly, the IPP-USB specification is the product of another standards organization (the USB Implementer's Forum). Having been involved during its development, IPP-USB does not support IPPS or any type of request/response encryption since USB doesn't have the notion of connections like TCP/IP does.

The IPP-USB protocol maps unencrypted IPP and HTTP requests/responses over USB and assumes that the client software will be communicating through a TCP/IP proxy listening on the loopback interface/address/hostname ("localhost").
