I'm creating an app called Foredge that will allow users to scan ISBNs and retrieve metadata for that ISBN, so they can build a catalog of the books they are reading (and have read). Part of the app will also allow the user to enter and edit metadata. Since the Open Library API will be used to obtain much of this metadata, it seems only fair that the app contribute any data it gets from the user (cover photos, book synopses, page counts, corrected genres, etc.) to enrich the Open Library metadata (if the user opts in to sharing their metadata; if not, no user data is shared). To that end, I have created a bot account called foredge-bot (operated by my human account, Foredge) that will contribute this information while respecting rate limits.
