Response to #119 — missing tag 3006,0088

Verdict: not a bug — the attribute is retired.

ROI Observation Description (3006,0088) is absent because it was retired from the DICOM Standard in 2022b, and this project tracks the current edition.

Proof

PS3.6 Table 6-1 in the current standard (2026c) lists the attribute with an explicit retirement marker:

For contrast, its neighbour (3006,0086) RT ROI Identification Code Sequence carries no such marker and is still present.

The attribute also no longer appears in the RT ROI Observations Module table in current PS3.3:
https://dicom.nema.org/medical/dicom/current/output/chtml/part03/sect_C.8.8.8.html — (3006,0088) does not occur on that page.

The link in the report points to the 2015a edition of the standard, which predates the retirement:

Recommendation

Close as working as intended. Retired attributes are excluded from module listings by design — (3006,0088) is still available in standard/attributes.json, flagged "retired": "Y", for anyone reading legacy files.
