[Win 11] Hotkey usage is not working when Win-key is involved

Problem

As long as the Win-key is part of the settings for the hold or the toggle mode, the little pill and the app is not responding to the command to start recording or to stop recording.

Workaround

Solution for me was to leave that Key out. E.g. use Ctrl + Alt + Shift

Thanks, glad it's useful! Good catch. The Win key is awkward on Windows because the shell grabs a lot of its combos, which is likely why hold/toggle won't fire when Win is part of the binding. Your workaround (leaving Win out, e.g. Ctrl+Alt+Shift) is the right move for now. Worth noting this also hits the default binding (Ctrl+Win) on some setups, so I want to make Win-key combos register reliably. Looking into it.

A possible workaround on Windows is to disable the built-in Windows key shortcuts through the registry. This prevents combinations like Win+R, Win+E, Win+D, etc. from interfering with VoiceFlow's global shortcuts while keeping the Windows key itself functional for the Start menu.

1. Open Registry Editor (regedit).

2. Navigate to:

   HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer
   

   Create the Explorer key if it doesn't exist.

3. Create a new DWORD (32-bit) value:

   Name: NoWinKeys
   Value: 1
   

4. Restart Explorer or sign out and back in.

Or import this .reg file:

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer]
"NoWinKeys"=dword:00000001

To undo the change, delete the NoWinKeys value or set it back to 0.

This isn't a replacement for an in-app solution, but it can be a useful workaround for users who want to avoid conflicts with Windows hotkeys.
