Sentry is $30/month. Looking for free alternatives for error tracking.

Options to Evaluate

Self-Hosted (Free)

• GlitchTip - Sentry-compatible (uses same SDKs), simpler to run, fully open source. Also has hosted free tier with 1,000 events/month.
• SigNoz - OpenTelemetry-based, unified logs/metrics/traces. Very efficient with ClickHouse storage.

Free Tiers (Hosted)

• Rollbar - Free plan with unlimited users
• Better Stack - Sentry-compatible (drop-in replacement with existing SDKs), free plan includes error tracking + uptime monitoring
• PostHog - Generous free tier, combines error tracking with product analytics

Recommendation

GlitchTip or Better Stack are easiest switches since they're Sentry SDK-compatible - just change the DSN and keep existing sentry-ruby gem.

Hey , ive also been working on and using my own alternative to sentry and the rest. my issue was the bloat that came with it and the overwhelming dashboard look , i just needed a simple lightweight tool that would notify my when something breaks,

so i made my UI look like gmail, so it'll be easier to triage errors too haha.
