UPS monitoring

It would be great to add UPS monitoring. Are you planning to do this, or will it never be implemented?

i think the real problem is how to fit it into the dashboard.
we cant really put it into the table with the other systems because most ups wont have the relevant properties
Would it be an extra button like containers and smart devices?

I see two main points for discussion here.

1. Where should this be integrated? In my opinion, the best approach would be to follow the SMART page as an example. The fields should be configurable, since they really depend on the UPS model and the software being used.

2. Obtaining data from the UPS. I don’t think it’s a good idea to rely solely on NUT. There are cases where a UPS may be uncommon or come with its own proprietary software and only work with that. NUT can be a baseline option, but it shouldn’t be the only one. There should be an interface that can be implemented to provide data through custom exporters.

Now that's some productive discussion!
I personally really the data points that peanut displays in the table
one thing id like to say is i don't think we need power usage metrics really ( as in kwh in the last 30 days or something like this ) although it would be a nice to have feature

I used this guide to have the agent installed on Synology NAS.

When I noticed it does not pull data from UPS, I tried to search for how this data is pulled and it seems it is local from /sys/class/power_supply ?? Based on info from one of the Issues.
That is not present in Synology, but it can have network UPS server enabled. Based on my search, it seems it is probably NUT?
So if that could be implemented (so it Beszel could send a notification on power outage), it would be nice.

I've recently setup NUTCase and it looks good and has useful (though limited) info - I have a Raspberry Pi nut server with a backup powerbank (would last literal days - but no monitoring), and the server that relies on that UPS.

Generally you cannot daisy-chain UPS onto each other, although you may have a single NUT server monitoring multiple UPS. So for a primary UPS server having a SMART- alike page with stacked graphs at the top, then individual entries with more details works well.

For secondary clients (ie, the ones that use the UPS, but don't provide the NUT server) I'd like to see it in the main All Systems page under the 🪫Batt heading (but not the SMART page). Basically this becomes a simple mapping - which would be useful to see per-agent.

An agent could be set to be both (and if it is actually a laptop etc with a built-in batter then that would still work as the internal battery would drain last).
