The HackRF One TX function sometimes stops for no reason when using hackrf_transfer.exe #1809

Description

@BenHut1

What type of issue is this?

intermittent - occurring irregularly

What issue are you facing?

Every once in a while, the HackRF One will stop working for transmit when using hackrf_transfer.exe. This never used to happen so I don't know if it may be a hardware issue instead of a software issue. Also may be a firmware issue. Once it starts though, the ONLY way to fix it is to unplug the HackRF One from the USB port and plug it back in. I have not found any way to send any kind of reset or fix command via software.

What are the steps to reproduce this?

Use hackrf_transfer.exe to send a raw waveform for transmitting with the -t command line switch. Usually this works fine but after stopping and starting it a number of times (using Ctrl-C to break out of transmitting when transmitting with the -R command line switch) such as to change sample rate or other parameters, it eventually stops working. When it does so the next time you attempt to transmit it starts to transmit (TX LED comes on and receiving SDR spectrogram shows signal present) for a moment but then it immediately stops transmitting. The case of the device isn't hot or any other indication something is wrong.

Can you provide any logs? (output, errors, etc.)

The only indication that hackrf_transfer.exe gives that something is wrong is the console text "Couldn't transfer any bytes for one second.". It doesn't give ANY technical indication as to what went wrong. I really wish that it could give a more verbose output explaining EXACTLY what went wrong that caused the transmission to stop before 1 second was over. Also as it's only intermittent, I can't reproduce it by duplicating the exact set of steps every time, nor is there any consistency in the number of times I can start and stop its transmission before it fails to start properly the next time.
