1. Subject

These Terms of Use define the rules applicable to the use of the PDF Tech application. The application is provided as a technical tool intended to facilitate the user's work on their own files.

2. Acceptance

Using the application implies acceptance of these terms. If the user does not accept these terms, they must stop using the application.

3. General operation

PDF management application: read, annotate, create, share, sign and OCR. It is designed to process documents primarily locally, under the user's control. The application runs primarily locally on the device and does not create an app-specific user account.

4. No advertising, no tracking

The developer declares that the application contains no advertising, tracker, audience measurement, behavioural analytics or profiling system.

5. Source code license

The project's source code is published under Apache License 2.0, subject to the presence and content of the LICENSE file in the GitHub repository. This license notably allows use, copy, modification and redistribution under the conditions set out by the Apache License 2.0. Third-party libraries and components remain subject to their own licenses.

6. User responsibilities

  • Use the application only with files the user owns or is authorised to read, modify, convert, export or share.
  • Verify the content of files before any distribution, export, signature, conversion or sharing.
  • Make the user's own backups, especially before any major modification.
  • Respect copyright, confidentiality, professional secrecy, personal data and applicable laws.
  • Protect the device with a suitable lock screen, security updates and useful backups.

7. App-specific points

  • The user is responsible for documents they open, modify, sign, share or export.
  • Signature or annotation features facilitate document work, but do not replace legal advice when a signature has contractual or official value.
  • Sharing functions rely on third-party services chosen or used by the user.

8. Warranty disclaimer

The application is provided "as is". The developer makes best efforts to provide a reliable tool but does not guarantee absence of errors, interruptions, incompatibilities with certain files, nor perfect fitness for a particular use.

9. Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, the developer cannot be held liable for data loss, handling errors, indirect damages, loss of operations, loss of opportunity, technical incompatibilities, problems related to third-party services or consequences of non-compliant use.

10. Third-party services

Some features may rely on third-party services chosen or used by the user, e.g. Android, email, system sharing, GitHub or other installed apps. These services have their own terms, privacy policies and security rules.

11. Intellectual property

The name, content, texts, icons, visuals and resources of the project remain protected under applicable rules. The main source code is placed under Apache License 2.0 when the LICENSE file in the repository confirms it. Third-party components retain their respective licenses.

12. Security

The user must not open suspicious files or files from unknown sources without precaution. The developer may publish updates aimed at improving stability, compatibility or security. See SECURITY.md.

13. Modification of terms

These terms may be updated as the application evolves. The date on the document indicates the current version of the text.

14. Applicable law

Unless otherwise required by law, these terms are drafted in line with French and European law. When used in another country, the user remains responsible for complying with applicable local laws.
