Did anyone else see the Flashforge Creator 5 launch? It looks like a multi-tool built on the AD5M/X frame. I've already put my deposit down, but I’m really hoping the internals match the 5/Pro/X series—mostly for easier firmware access and modding potential. Anyone else planning to pick one up, or are you holding out for reviews? Also looks cheaper than the U1.

I don't plan to buy a Creator 5.
I also don't plan to repeat the experience of developing without a printer, as I did with the AD5X. It takes a lot of time, and all testing is only possible remotely.

I got an AD5X printer six months after I launched the Z-Mod on it.

Only after that was I able to create the AD5X recovery system, work without a native screen, and everything else.

If users decide they need a Z-Mod for Creator 5 and can provide me with a printer, I'll take up the mod development.

The Creator 5 isn't available in Russia yet. Resellers are offering it for 120,000 rubles, which is an unrealistic price. Official AliExpress sellers promise the same prices as those on the FF website, but that's two months away.
I hope that within 2 months I will be able to collect the required amount. I left the link on the main page of the site.

I'm back from vacation. I'll catch up on my current affairs and continue working on the mod. The Pro version isn't available in Russia yet. They're promising a release at the end of August. I've saved up 66,793 rubles (about $823) for the purchase.

The AD5X and AD5M are available for purchase. The Creator 5 has arrived, but the price is still unreasonable. Around $1,000. They promised to begin official sales at normal prices within a month or two. I'm going on vacation for the summer, and I think by the time I return in August there won't be any problems with purchasing.

I just got mine - not bad but too many silly bugs and 1001 newbies - so help desk is swamped.

It tried to send a test $ but could not get it. I am not so IT savvy. Will check back and expect to hear that you had a great Vacation :-)

Their firmware files .tgz are not the usual .tgz and they have locked their log files down as well. Makes it harder to see what may be causing issues in some cases. The Static IP address option - is useless and I have had to loc Mac Address as to the only way to keep it stable.

I'm planning to upgrade to the Pro version to take advantage of the maximum number of features. The 5MP Pro had difficulties testing many of its specific features. I think the regular version will simply lack some of the Pro features. Therefore, the Pro version will also cover the regular version. I definitely don't plan on using two versions. I already have two printers at home. And four printers is too many for a typical apartment.

I suppose that'll depend on how different the firmware/architecture ends up being.

If Flashforge is using a similar/shared codebase on the Adventurer 5 series and the Creator 5 series, then the Zmod code will also share quite a lot between platforms.

(I really hope they are so that Sergei's workload isn't too heavy, and he can hopefully port the mod quicker that way.)

If however they've gone and built a different code base from the ground up, then the mod would also be significantly different, and in that case a separate project/name could potentially make sense... Though hopefully that isn't the case.

I don't plan to rename it or create a separate project. Most likely, there will be a separate set of configs for C5.A new project means new documentation and new questions.

Creator 5 has arrived in Russia for $725.
I'm waiting for the Creator 5 Pro to fully utilize its capabilities.
I'm also going on summer vacation soon and won't be able to start working on the mod until August.
I won't be on Telegram, GitHub, Facebook, or VKontakte during my vacation, as I'll likely be without internet access.
I think the Creator 5 Pro will be available for purchase by then. We've raised 50,000 rubles ($697) so far.
@VoronKor, with whom we worked on the IFS protocol, also made a significant contribution. He was also the first to implement strain gauge operation on the FF 5M.

I have the 1.9.4 .tgz file and tried to upload it, but I couldn't.
I am one of those people with a C5P that thinks it's a C5. Won't accept firmware 1.9.4 and just boots normally.

I got the c5p 4 days ago and during the first calibration for leveling the beginning pause was like 3 minutes, to me it didn't seem right so I cancelled out and proceeding to OTA the firmware. I was unaware that my printer was now on C5 1.9.4. I calibrated and everything worked great. then i discovered my c5p was id'ing itself as a c5. when i got the c5p 1.9.4 file from support, the printer bypassed the boot from USB and just booted normally into c5 1.9.3 (still). Support provided me c5 1.9.2 (not c5p) and that booted from USB and flashed to c5 1.9.2, i then did OTA firmware update but it went back again to c5 1.9.3. Seems OTA and USB boot is checking for printer model ID.

My Creator 5 broke after 28 hours of printing :( I think it's due to the lack of protection against nozzle impacts on the table. The AD5X broke after 2,000 hours of printing (the heater burned out, which was easily replaced with a similar one). My AD5X has now been printing for over 4,000 hours on firmware Z-MOD.

If it's not too much trouble, could you share some information about Root and Moonraker?

I am hesitant to publicly post the method as I don't want people to inadvertently brick their new printers. I don't have a simple script that does everything for you, so all the stuff I've shown is manually done. If you are confident in using tools like ssh, scp, vi, and other general linux commands, and are comfortable messing with your printer, I don't mind sending it to you or anyone else privately. If you aren't, I'd advise you to wait until someone makes a more user-friendly mod (like zmod!). My matrix is @wondercrash:matrix.org

I haven't read their TOS, but I assume doing this voids your warranty as well.

Also, yeah, the Creator 5 series seems rushed and unpolished. You may want to contact FlashForge to get a replacement first.

@XeonCoinMaker2024 that sucks, i have had no issues with my c5 (other than the second one ordered at the same time won't be here until the end of july/august).

But really it should have bed collision detection since it has an eddy coil, seems like something that should be enableable

I only have the C5 Pro but it seems like it's an Ingenic X2600 with 500mb DDR3-1800 (900mhz) memory.

Looks like it is a good candidate/opportunity to design a custom board to use a more capable SOC like the Raspberry Pi CM4 or CM5 and gut the weak electronics.

At least software development doesn't have to start over, using SimpleAF (creality k1 series and e3v3ke / nebula pad klipper) uses the exact same chip with half the memory. Should be able to get binaries like git, tar, etc from there

On top of that, you can use a similar system to Vanilla klipper (kobras1 user) and tunnel it once we have a vanilla klipper reimpl of ff's stuff.

The new sovol one looks really interesting. I'm not sure about the IDEX design though. It's already a toolchanger, does it really need an extra toolhead? I guess it's nice if you use a lot of soluble support.
