Does this also visualize graphically the mermaid chart/timeline?

Not yet. I absolutely want to have diagram preview working via the extension, but after asking around in Zed's Discord, my understanding is that it is not possible today.

Once the zed_extension crate is more capabale, I believe this functionality would be possible.

Firstly, I like your extension. May I know why it is not possible today?

My understanding is that an LSP is needed to execute commands via the mermaid CLI, as well as a Zed command to open the rendered diagram in the editor.

As far as I know, there is no LSP implementation for mermaid, so one would need to be written.

Today Zed Preview 0.194.0 was released with a feature that may make this feature easier to implement: zed-industries/zed#32694

The way I see it currently is:

1. On extension install, download the Mermaid CLI if not already present in the PATH
2. Write an LSP for Mermaid
   1. Hook up language_server_command to the Mermaid CLI
3. Figure out a way to leverage the new svg_preview crate.
