Add a second or two of delay before enabling the robot, and use the LEDs to flash orange or some other color during that time to indicate that the robot's about to enable.
It would require a bit of work to connect the RIO to the LED controller, but it might be a pretty nice use of the LEDs. Not to mention that it would allow us to do other things with LEDs as well, particularly debugging.
