So, I re-installed the system and followed all the documentation on ContaCam. It has been running for days without a flaw. The time that the system died could have been because I was running another windows application under WINE on my Ubuntu system. I have found a Linux replacement for that other app. Problem solved. |

I have an UBUNTU install and used Wine to install ContaCam. It worked but the remote viewing is an issue. As suggested on the ContaCam website ("ContaCam in WINE (Ubuntu) Howto") , I followed the 10 page manual and installed the Apache 2 server. However, after all of that, my system died; it refused to boot at all. I may have made an error in the setup? Anyone that tried to use the manual?
I read that the new 2025 release updated internal web server to Apache 2.4.63. Does this mean that I should try the internal webserver or does that still not work in a Linux environment?
Some background:
I searched and must have tried a dozen VMS systems and they all had something missing from my requirements list:
I installed ContaCam on a windows system and I need only a client to run on my own local network. It worked fabulous. The functionality is all I ever need - except for the Linux part
