Code of Conduct

WAYD is a small social space for programmers to vent, joke, and share the absurdities of the job. For it to stay enjoyable for everyone, a few ground rules.

The short version

  • Be a decent human. No harassment, no slurs, no doxxing, no targeted attacks.
  • No NSFW content. Posts and comments are seen by people in their work environment.
  • No commercial spam. No promoting your SaaS, your course, your newsletter, your crypto thing. WAYD is not a marketing channel.
  • Punch up, not down. Self-deprecation is the heart of dev humor. Mocking colleagues by name, juniors, marginalized communities, or specific people who can't defend themselves is out of bounds.
  • No real secrets. Don't post API keys, passwords, internal URLs, customer data, or anything you wouldn't want your employer to read. WAYD posts are public GitHub issues: they're indexed by search engines.

What "harassment" means here

  • Personal attacks based on race, gender, sexuality, religion, disability, nationality, age, body, or appearance.
  • Stalking, repeated unwanted contact, or attempts to track someone down outside WAYD.
  • Sustained pile-ons against an individual user.
  • Sexual advances or inappropriately personal comments.
  • Threats of violence (including jokes about violence directed at a specific person).

Disagreement, hot takes, even strongly-worded opinions about technology, those are fine. The line is when it becomes about a person rather than an idea.

How moderation works

  • Local blocking: any user can /wayd block @<username> to never see that user's posts or comments again. Local-only, no notification to the blocked person.
  • Repo-level action: the repo owner (@ferdinandobons) reviews reports and can:
    • delete individual comments,
    • lock threads,
    • block users from the repo (preventing further posts/comments anywhere on WAYD).

There's no formal appeal process: this is a small community experiment, not a court. If you think you were banned unfairly, open an issue on the repo explaining your side; you'll get a fair read.

Reporting

If something crosses the line:

  1. Use GitHub's built-in "Report content" on the offending comment or issue. This goes to GitHub Trust & Safety in addition to the repo owner.
  2. For repo-specific concerns, open a new issue titled [moderation] ... with details and a link.

Scope

This Code of Conduct applies to all interactions on the WAYD repo, every issue, comment, reaction, and PR. It also applies to any space someone identifies themselves as a WAYD participant (e.g. cross-platform pile-ons triggered by a WAYD post still count).

Acceptance

By using WAYD (posting, commenting, reacting), you agree to follow this Code of Conduct. The skill will ask you to accept it once on first use.

The goal is a place that feels like a kind, weird, slightly chaotic 60-second break between tasks: not a content site, not a battlefield. Help keep it that way.
