Open-core split
- Self-hosted stays free and open (just like now): distribution, credibility, zero-cost marketing. These users would never have paid anyway.
- Managed hosting is the actual product: same software, but we run it, updates, backups, support.
The core tension
- A hosted version defeats the purpose of the whole self-hosted design: the point was that your bank data stays on your machine, not on someone's server.
- The moment we host it, we're a direct Finanzguru competitor --> same trust problem, without the brand, licenses, or budget.
- People pay Finanzguru mostly for trust/brand/support/liability, not the software. That's the real moat, not the code.
