Hi Sylvain,

Congrats to you and the @picsat team for the satellite recovering after a long sleep! Wow.

I'm trying to use the PicTalk decoder but have not been able to obtain any decodes despite strong signals, which gr-satellites is able to decode. Using Mint Mate 19.2 (based on Ubuntu 18.04 LTS) using python 3.6.9.

As far as I can tell, all dependencies have been met before compiling binary.
Console output attached. The signals are seen but something appears to prevent decoding and or printing.

Any suggestions on debugging most welcome.

Bob, It looks like you did it the right way ... Maybe try to have the first received frames centered in the RX area (where you have the red vertical line). I remember that the Doppler correction routine does not like so much when it starts with a large frequency offset According to the log window, for sure it sees the frames but does not seem to be able to demodulate them correctly. Thanks suggestion Sylvain. Unfortunately, that did not work. To verify hardware, I tried using an older system (Linux Mint 18.04 Mate) already on a laptop. Works fine. I then installed Linux Mint 1804 on a new SSD for the desktop. Again works great. My only conclusion is that a fresh linux install may be required, or there is something about early versions of linux (which use Python 3.5).
If a decision is taken to update PicTalk, then it would be very helpful to have some debugging options to troubleshoot. Maybe even a way of feeding a pre-recorded IQ file into the decoder?
One alternative to consider is the provide an appimage. That way, it should be quite portable, and act independently of the specific linux OS. At least in theory.
In the meantime, all best to you and the PicSat team! So happy it's back. Standing by for further updates. Always happy to help beta test.
