Using releases would be useful so that users of the plugin can upgrade the version that is used at their will instead of following main branch. This was requested here.
Otherwise, the other "easy" solution is to pin dependencies to a commit (as mentioned here), but the preferable solution is to have versions that can be pinned so that it's easier to identify how the plugin has been changing over time and to understand how "behind" a pin of the plugin is.
