I followed the same steps but couldn't find the lab contents

I should able to see the lab contents but unfortunately I couldn't see it.

If I understand correctly, you've used vagrant to launch a VM, and then inside of that VM you cannot see the lab files. Assuming this is correct, the thing to note is that the guest VM and your host computer have different file systems.

There's a shared directory mounted -- inside of the guest VM, it will be /vagrant. All of the files that are in the directory where the Vagrant file is will be there. e.g., I'm using windows, and have this repo in this directory c:\vagrant\npp-linux-01-intro. After running vagrant up, and vagrant ssh, I do the following:

vagrant@ubuntu-jammy:~$ ls /vagrant
LICENSE README.md Vagrantfile demo1 demo2 demo3 lab1 mac-arm

vagrant@ubuntu-jammy:~$ exit
logout
Connection to 127.0.0.1 closed.

c:\vagrant\npp-linux-01-intro>dir
Volume in drive C is OSDisk

Hi @eric-keller , I am having some troubles with the shared directory. I'm on an ARM based mac-os system. I've set a "shared-directory" on UTM but I can't find the directory within the VM itself so I can't seem to copy the submission.tgz out to my laptop to submit to the course. Could you please provide any advice you might have for this? Thanks in advance! :)

Hi @AndyJiang99, I'm a course facilitator for this course. I will queue up a task for myself to evaluate the shared directory option via UTM but that may take me a couple days to address. However, I also expect that you should be able to ssh to the running UTM VM from your mac-os and similarly use a command line tool like scp to pull the submission file off the VM.

Hi @AndyJiang99, I took a further look at this. It looks like there are some additional installations/setups required to get the shared directory option to work with UTM VMs. I'd still recommend using ssh and scp. If you are connected to the VM and run ifconfig you should see an IP that is accessible to the mac os host. You should then be able to connect to the VM from a mac os terminal with that IP, for instance ssh vagrant@[vm ip]. In the same way you should be able to execute scp from the mac os terminal to pull files off the vm. Let me know if you need further assistance on this.

Hi, thanks for looking into this for me! I managed to set up ssh on my local machine and the UTM VM to be able to scp files out from VM onto my local machine. I'll add some steps to under the mac-arm directory in this repo and open a PR for it so others on Mac will be able to do it as well going forward
