I run into the same issue. Starting rx in the terminal is prevented and instead opens a warning:

Using curl to download the binary, as described in the readme
will avoid the macOS Gateway security checks and let you circumvent the blocking message you ran into.

As this is from a trusted source, it is considered an acceptable risk.
