How’s EllaCore going so far?

I’ve been using EllaCore recently and wanted to say thanks for the work you’ve put into it.

I’m interested in hearing your perspective on how the project is going so far.

How do you feel about its progress and adoption up to now?

I’d love to understand more about how others are adopting it.

Up to now, Ella Core has been a project I've worked on in my free time, during nights and weekends, as I have a full-time job. While I am happy with the progress I've been able to make with these constraints, the project is far from where I want it to be. Because of this, I have decided to commit to it (and other related Telco products) full-time as of August 29th. You can expect to see a higher rate of progress and a stable release within the next few months.

As for adoption, to the best of my knowledge, most people have used it in the context of exploration, validation, and testing - but I am not aware of any live production deployments yet. Ella Core is designed to be a production-grade core network. I won't be satisfied until I see lots of those!

I would like to turn the tables now. In which context do you use Ella Core? What is Ella Core excellent at? What features/qualities would make it better suited for that context?

Currently I deploy it as PoCs/blogs (for now youtube), what I really like in Ella Core is the API feature which is a game changer in my opinion, this makes it easy to plug into other network management solutions, I was able to even hook it up into Claude via an API MCP server. As an API first product it will definitely be useful in using Local LLMs/AI Agent to streamline the operations and management.

I think having the HA feature will be great as this will be a major factor for enterprises to adopt it.

Just curious, which other Telco products are you looking to create?

As I am going full-time on this initiative, I am building my small business. I am thinking of two different products for the time being, both are commercial offerings. The first is an enterprise version of Ella Core which would include features that an enterprise or government would demand in very high criticality deployments (like the ability to be backed by an HSM, FIPS compliance, and more). The second is an application to manage multiple private networks. Think about a small operator who deploys and supports dozens of private network in a certain region. It would be great for them to have a single place where they can configure and monitor all their networks.
