Could it be possible to add social links (Twitter, Linkedin, GitHub) as parameters in the config file so they can be shown as buttons when the blog is rendered?

Where do you want to put the buttons? I guess you could hard-coded them in the theme, effectively making a custom theme! See if the documentation for themes helps.
